finds: sean McCandless/ scab artist

This is by Sean McCandless of Santa Cruz. He is a script writer and works as a producer for KZSC radio station and he is also my housemate. His piece (scab artist) was featured on PRX showcase and got some amazing reviews. But be ready before you listen to it, make sure you are able to dedicate about 20 minutes to it because that is the length. It is a combination of mixes and narrative audio scene. It draws you in and takes you on a trip then ends perfectly. Id personally love to see it as a play in the future. Enjoy.

Argument Hour: Online

This is because of freakin Tranny Tran and Kevy Kev.

So is it possible for someone to be a different person online than they are in person? And is this perhaps something that is tearing up the society today?

Think about all the bad that comes from online conversations. I mean I don't want to completely knock it because shoot I love to chat and look for things online. But the truth is, how credible are most things that are shown online.

I say anything because how many things online are word of mouth, or through some basic research, or done in a different confidence.

Take these scenarios.

  1. Dateline. How many predators are there online, and even more so, how many times has Dateline lied about who they are online! I mean, that's how they catch predators, they pose as 13 year olds and as soon as these pedophiles go to the house, they book em' and charge em'. This is definitely good but this brings me to my next point.
  2. Fakes. How many fakes are online. Think about all the robots that ask you to be their friends on myspace. Or these predators that could be posing as something that they are not.
  3. Boldness. I've had this conversation with a few people recently. That I think at times you can be more bold online. You may say things you wouldn't say to a person's face because you have the computer to hide behind. There has been numerous times when my sister and I would talk shit to people online because they couldn't do anything to us in person. There are any number of ways you can assume ignorance. For example, "Sorry wrong window", putting up an away message or just that fact that you could be miles away from the person you are talking to.

This brings me to a completely different question.

"Would you do whatever you wanted if you had always had a legitimate and acceptable excuse?"

So in conclusion, I am not a more interesting person online TRAN and KEVIN! I am just more bold. And perhaps just have more opportunity!

The question that sparked this Argument:

Do you hold grudges?
grudges aren't really tangible.. so they can't be held, but if they could, I would hug them and say, it's okay grudges, you don't need to be so horrible, we can all get along.. and maybe one day, there will be no need for you.. haha

Food for Thought: Knife Basics

We all love to cook. The act of taking the beauty of something raw and making it into something declicous. It's with in us all and our passion for it is hidden because we lack the confidence. So to get you into cooking, ill teach you some of the basics.

It hurts to get cut by a knife, I know. I've done it time and time again. But just to warn you, when you play with knives, you're going to get cut. I'm here to tell you some tips to avoid that.

Always have a sharp knife. Yes, I know, doesn't that raise the risk of cutting yourself? Yes it does, but in a way it's better. If yo
u were to accidently cut youre finger with a dull knife, it hurts more cause it tears, which may cause scaring. With a sharp knife, the cut is clean and doesn't hurt as much. It will also heal much faster. Also, you're food will come out much more nice. It's all about the food by the way. Also you're knife should be of good quality and blanced. But if i went into knives, this post would be way to long.

When holding the knife, your back 3 fingers should be at the handle of the knife and your thumb and index finger should be at the base of the blade. This will give you more control rather than just gripping the whole handle entirely.

The proper way to hold the food while cutting is using what we call "The Claw." Or as I like to call it "Bear ready to kill." Haha. Ok. So when you hold it you want to keep all fingers tucked inside so the blade will never have the chance to cut off those nice new nails you got. And also the thumb should be behind all the fingers like in the shown picture. The blade should slide gently on the knuckles of your fingers. And be sure not to raise the blade above the knuckles or youd have yourself quite a mess. Start off slow, and you should be able to get the hang of it. Then you can be a chopping master.

Last, you should be organized. Be sure to have a wet towel underneth your cutting bored so it doesn't slide all over the place. And also, your bored should be clean without a lot of food parts everywhere. This will cause you to cut in differnt angles causing blood spill potential. Also keep your area dry and be sure never to cut chicken then veggies on the same bored. Yea, gross.

There are many other tips I can give you, but it would be better if I were there to show you hands on. So if you ever need help cutting some food, I can be there with a knife in my hand standing behind you. Scary? Well at least we will make good food.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 25

Day 25:
Come to terms with the various things you'll never get to do.

I know I've been lacking in this department as of late, but there has been a lot going on. No worries, I have been doing the days, it's just some of them turned out to be far less eventful than I hoped, and why would I post something that no one wanted to read.

The task was interesting. The book actually provided a list of things. And to be honest, all my life, I've said I want to experience everything. And to be honest you really can't. And as much as I try, and as much as I fight there are definitely tasks that will not be accomplished. I mean, how can I be a movie star/singer/lawyer/doctor/street vendor. Right? I want to experience everything so I can be everything to those who want me to be that for them.

Here were some of my favorites from the book
Become a queen
Feel like batman
Give birth to a goatboy

Here's the line-up for the next few days

Day 26:
Choose what you'd like to be reincarnated as
Day 27:
You are not allowed to say yes or no. Only variations of the two.
Day 28:
Choose your final meal on death row and make it
Day 29:
Dial a random phone number and read a script in a deep south accent.

Argument Hour: Adapters

This is sparked by rockband! Haha... You know, we're living in what century now. With things like plasma screen HDTVs, the internet and any other number of technological advancements. But this is my point. With all these electrical engineers or whatever, isn't it time we move past adapters?

I understand that some things need more power to operate, and I know that this is what these huge boxes provide. But goodness, you can only plug 1 into a double outlet. I think it's time that we move beyond all this, and figure out a way we can conserve more space in our lives.

Thanks!

finds: designer bicycles

As some of you may know, the fixed gear bike culture has gained a lot of popularity over the last couple of years. Along with popularity comes trend, fashion design companies and street artists have done collaborations and hopped onto the bike culture band wagon.

Kid Robot & Nemisis Projects (comes with u-lock and tool kit)

Futura & Colnago; part of the "look ma, no brakes" series.
(There is also a Stash collaboration with Colnago bike.)

Last but not least, a Chanel 8-Speed bike. Be ready for it in Spring/summer of 08, retail should be around $12,000.

No hate towards anyone in this post, i ride a fixed gear bike and i love it.

Natalie Portman's vegan shoes

Our Bomb$hell babe, Natalie Portman, just recently launched her new vegan shoe line. Her designs are totally animal-friendly, meaning they are cruelty-free and are produced in humane conditions. 100% of the proceeds will benefit The Nature Conservancy, an organization dedicated to ecological protection. Her shoes will have the same look as any high-end designer shoes except being made from leather or anything that has to do with an animals life. Although the shoes cost about $200 a pair and only come in designs for girls but it is good to know that there are celebs out there that care. The vegan shoe line dropped January 15th and the collection is hand-crafted and will be available in limited edition. Big ups to a beautiful girl with a beautiful heart!

News: Ron Hunter Shoes for Charity

This angry man up here, is doing something very admirable today. Not loud or extravagant, but simply not wearing shoes, in hopes that people will donate some to those who need it. Ron Hunter is the coach of IUPUI and is working through a company called Samaritan's Feet, hoping to raise 40,000 pairs of shoes for those who need it.
Last I heard, a single group had donated the 40,000, but just because they reached their goal, doesn't mean that you can't further help the cause..

Argument Hour: Controversy

Let me tell you, I watch ESPN with a passion. I don't get all these sports channels so I get my coverage from ESPN. And all day today, they were talking about Golfweek and their coverage of Kelly Tilghman's remarks toward Tiger Woods. During her commentary of Tiger Woods on the tour she said, "Lynch him in a back alley" which in turn was covered in Golfweek with that stunning photo shown above.

Now there are a few things I want to cover in this. And once again, take your own angle and go ahead and argue with me. I agree, that an image of a noose, and the thoughts of lynching are sore spots when it comes to anyone of color. And I do think that the thoughts that are provoked when these things do come up aren't exactly positive. But I do think it has come to a point where things need to be taken at face value. The media, and these announcers are not really saying that some one should go kidnap Tiger Woods and hang him for what he is doing, and especially not for being black.

What I do think, is that we need to start to re associate the thoughts and images that seemingly come hand in hand with the words noose and lynch. Just like the many other things, that come with bad stereotypes. Because if you continue on with these thoughts, they are just going to bring more drama, and less equality. And isn't that what we're all fighting for, this equal opportunity to do what we want, and as we please, mind you that this is as long as it does not harm anyone else.

For example, when you think of Germans what is the first thing that comes to mind? Nazis? I know for all too many of you this is what happens. And I'm not blaming you. I'm just encouraging you to think of something else. All throughout high school I got shit for taking German, and all too often jokes were said that didn't necessarily hurt me, but would probably strike a chord with someone else. I'm not saying let's forget the past, what I am saying, is let's be open and take things at face value. Don't say things unless you truly know it's origin and what image you may be portraying.

We need to get past the point of, racial stereotypes. Yes I know, I know I know I know. Easier said than done, but I would like to reiterate this because we're living in a new age, and people did not fight for this, for it to make no difference. Take in prior accounts, but don't let it cloud your judgement.

Lastly, the magazine is there to strike up controversy. The magazine, and those who make it want you to read it. And honestly, I wouldn't ever read Golfweek, but maybe I'll read this one. Face value people! Recognize the reference but don't misinterpret!

Review: Rise of the Revolution

So last Saturday a few of us went out to a show at the Catalyst. I'm sorry to say we weren't able to capture any pictures of the, let's call them events, that took place.

We purposely showed up a little late, because to be honest, we only wanted to see Rise of the Revolution. And a few of us wanted to experience the Catalyst now that we've all turned 21. The view from the balcony is just that much better.

Nevertheless, we opted to stay at ground level, sip a few beers and chill of those blunts. And let me say it made the concert just that much better. I've always loved the venue at the Catalyst. For some reason, you always leave with a story. From when we went to see Hieroglyphics to watching The Heroes in the City of Dope,I've loved every second at the Catalyst. And upon first entering I was scared this would have to stop.

Paloma, was... let me say, intriguing. I must say, that if you didn't like my argument hour on Kenny George, this is where you should skip to the Fubar part of the review. But to be honest ladies of Paloma. Singing should definitely be a part time thing for you ladies. You guys are decent, but the kind of decent that is reserved for house bands at local dive bars. So much that I had to look up your names because you didn't really leave too much of an impression. In fact, I remember you saying, "I can't even do this without a shot" an obvious plea to gain more yells and sreams. I'm sorry. Maybe it was a bad night, but I guess I'll reserve the rest of my judgement, because this is more mean than I feel like being today.

Fubar! Did not exactly steal the show, but they were definitely better than Paloma. They gave off that Sublime feel, which few could really pull off. Not to mention they hit up a Too Short cover, that is much appreciated in the bay. And I admit, they did have a lack of stage presence, but only because there was only so much they could do on stage giving their, disabilities. For my first time hearing them, I would say they are definitely something to look out for.

Rise of the Revolution! They definitely held it down. And let me say that I would have definitely paid a bit more attention if it wasn't for the cracked out guy chillin around the stage. But we'll get to him later. I enjoyed their music, because it was much more than feel good music. It was music for a purpose. Music affecting the belief that we can achieve a greater unified good. And I like that. They discussed topics that we are all too often too afraid to address. And I'm happy that there are still some people out there willing to address these things. They had a unique sound with a mix of percussion, keyboards, turntables, and a mix of vocals coming from Ali, and I'm sorry to say, but I forgot the other guy's name.

Now let, me tell you about the sideshow! Haha, because to be honest that guy was crazy. I first noticed this cracked out black guy in all white and a baby blue beanie, when he was jumping in circles during Paloma. He followed this up with a long set of mean muggin during Fubar, and for the big finally, 10 minutes of what I would call a crab position on the floor, 5 minutes more of mean muggin, callin a young girl from Iran a bitch and finally representin that M-town, out there in Santa Cruz. A definite you had to be there to get the vibe.

But check out that Rise track featuring the Grouch, it's one that shouldn't be missed. Peace!

Argument Hour: Kenny George

Let me start this one like this. Sometimes it's better to realize things before you head to far in the wrong direction. If you were going to go into some deep dark scary woods, wouldn't you want somebody to tell you whether it's dangerous or not?

I hate to shatter dreams, but it's been a while since I've done a post like this, or a post other than the whole This Book Will Change Your Life spiel. (Spiel is game in German...howla for bringing back high school) But to continue on.

Kenny George. You are on a dark and scary path, that does not lead you to the NBA. You may be 7'8" and huge like a mother, but that doesn't mean anything.

I've compiled a list, on why you should, focus on your studies.

  1. Mobility. Where's your footwork? In the video, all I really saw was you shuffling left and right. Big men need more mobility. In the NBA you'll get torn up by the likes of Dwight Howard or any number of very agile big men.
  2. Shot. You can't shoot, you were right there, standing a good foot and a half above your defender, and you couldn't lay it in. It's not always going to be that easy. In the NBA you got people that can hop over people, and you think people won't be able to jump as high as you are tall?
  3. Speed. It takes you twice as long to get down the court as the rest of your teammates. Maybe if you were playing Yao Ming, that slow bastard, you could stand a chance. But what about the rest of the league? You'll be good for one game. Haha.
  4. Passion. You don't look like you want it. It looks like you are stuck on the ball thinking, "Get the ball, get the ball, get the ball."
I admit you have potential, but I think above all you got to love the game you are playing, and it just doesn't seem like you want it that bad. You need to work hard to become faster and improve your shot. And stop holding your hands in the air like that's the only thing you can do with them.

Sports: Baron Davis

This guy is quite possibly the best point in the league and he ain't gonna make it to the all-star game? People better get up and vote for him. Where my Warrior fans at? go vote!

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 14

Day 14:
To tell you the truth, I didn't get out much today because I've been feeling like shit. Worse than I have been feeling for a while, so today was very minor. But I did compliment a few people. My dad on his cooking, the lady working the grocery line and a few people on their clothing. All in all, it was alright, nothing really out of the norm. I like telling people they wear good things, or starting up random conversations so it was just your ordinary day.. but day 15...

Day 15:
Be GAY for a day... ::shakes head::
what to do with this one..

The Modern Man Must Hustle

I would like to wish Markie B. a safe journey to where ever he's going and that when he returns he is an even wiser man then when he left. Have a good one man. Best to you.

Movies: Strange Wilderness

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 13

Day 13: Send a letter to a mass murderer
I'm going to write my letter on here. Copy and paste it to a word document and send it out to him.

Dear Mr. Manson,
To be honest, I know who you are, and what you have done but I figured it would be nice to hear what you have to say. There have been a lot of really good stories or perhaps myths about what you are capable of, and I thought it would be nice to get a conversation going with you. What do you like to do in your spare time? Do you have a lot of ideas running through your head? I heard once that you were so convincing that they have to switch out your guards once a month. To be honest, I really just want to know what you think about on a day to day basis. I'm sure you have some very intriguing ideas. For example, what do you think would make the world a better place? Who would you vote for this presidential election? It would be nice to hear from you.

Day 14:
A Day of Compliments: Compliment someone today and see if it indeed does get you anywhere.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 12

Day 12:
I had a discussion with a few people this weekend about this. What exactly is my type. I mean, if you go through my history, there does not seem to be any kind of template to the girls that I find interest in. So this is what I figure I wanted. I girl that's down to chill and watch a movie, that likes to get dressed up when going out, but doesn't always feel the need to or at least does it for the right reasons. A girl that I can talk to and is down to party. And a definite plus, one that's down to chill and play a videogame every now and then. Haha. But on first site, I would say a girl who has found her style and is comfortable in it.

Day 13:
Write a letter to a serial killer and send it to him/her.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 11

Day 11: Introduce Yourself to someone you know but never speak to.

To be honest, I did not get the opportunity to do this. I didn't actually see someone I knew but never spoke to. My neighbors weren't around because I was at my cousin's. I knew everyone in the house. I went out, but to the city and I really don't know anyone there. All day I was actually waiting to see someone I knew, but never spoke to but it never really came about. Either I knew them but spoke to them, or I didn't know them at all. Sorry for the uneventful day, but I'll handle it tomorrow if anything.

Day 12:
What's your type? Mark it off as a reminder for drunken parties.

Throwback Thursday: Doritos 3-D

This post is dedicated to Jess, who actually gave me the idea for this. But I just wanted people to remember some of their favorite childhood things. And I'm not sure if it was one of her favorites, but she definitely mentioned this one.

Doritos 3-D, those randomly shaped chips, with that little puff of air in between. They were introduce in 1997 by the Frito-Lay company and according to what I've seen online, are still being sold, but in different packaging in different countries. What I mean is that they are now being offered in little travel cup shaped containers. They offer Cheetos Cheeseballs in the same type case. But those little 3-D chips
that seemed to be a bit less filling than normal Doritos, but still just as fun do to their ridiculous shape are definitely throwback for those who have not moved out of the country.

Here's the only Doritos 3-D Commericial they had on you tube..

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 10

Day 10: Meet Jonas
The book told me to go to this website, www.thiswebsitewillchangeyourlife.com but they did not have any further information on Jonas. Which was okay, because I did learn, that for those who do not want to buy the book, that Benrik makes a new book every year. Entitled, This Diary Will Change Your Life, followed by the year. Something I might have to start doing next year. Basically, they said that their whole goal is to inject a bit of anarchism into everyone's lives.

They have a few other good things about the website. A mood tracker, and couples therapy. Infact, some people have randomly hooked up on their website. With people they already know, mind you! But nonetheless, through the genius that is Benrik.

However the few things I did learn about Jonas actually inspired me to follow the book with a bit more fervor. On the day where you're supposed to look at everyone as if they are the love of your life. He proceeded to dump his girlfriend, show another girl the page in the book and give her a passionate kiss.

GO Jonas!

Made possible by Lisa haha. Went to Chuck E Cheese's and then some Korean joint. Ended the night with a drunken Rockband session. The soju gave me a fucked up hangover today.

Day 9: Do something before breakfast.
This was a simple task. I like to wake up early and usually don't head out straight to breakfast. I write a little, make a to do list, and if I haven't yet missed the early sportscenters then I'll watch that. It was pretty routine, but I accidentally knocked over Bruno (my cactus) yesterday, and so I ended up vacuuming. Simple stuff.

Day 10:
Meet Jonas Today. I don't really want to type out the whole explanation of Jonas, but he's essentially a kid who has sworn to this book. And so far he has been arrested and lost is girlfriend. But we'll learn more about him tomorrow.

Day 8: Addiction Free Day
I started this day off thinking one way. Don't do anything I normally do. But real quick into my day, good ol' Armin told me. Well it's not an addiction if it doesn't control you. And to tell you the truth none of this stuff really controls me. I do it because I like it and that's all. If I didn't want to I wouldn't do it. I just like how everything feels. The rushes you get from doing this, or doing that.
A day later I do feel a little bit purer, or rather liberated. Knowing that there are not substances that control me.

Argument Hour: Parents

To be honest, I love the way my life is going. Everything may not be in order, but the way it is going as of right now, I am very excited about. Life is tough you don't always get what you want, but I had a conversation with my sister and my cousin the other day, about my family, the parents and just how we are, and it opened up my eyes.

The triggering statement was
"There are some things about our family you just can't change. We're ghetto, I don't know if she's ready for that"

I left the room to play poker in what my experience is, the typical Filipino style, party set up. The mothers huddled up together somewhere inside, cooking, cleaning, gossiping or watching TV. The kids running around the house or playing video games. And the dad's and few mom's that are down in the garage drinking and gambling. And so I took my seat at the table.

I admit, I always knew what it was like in the garage, I used to be on of the kids running around. But I never actually involved myself in the festivities that are a Filipino garage. I took my seat at the poker table and tried to find my place in this unfamiliar territory. It came with a rush after my first winning hand. A big pot, and then another and then another. They began to see me as legitimate competition. The rest was a rush. It came with high fives, magic sing, beer and shots.

This is where I came to my conclusion, and the point of my argument. Here at bomb$hell we pride ourselves in the life we live. And perhaps, the life we live is not all so different from those of our parents.

A few examples:
We learned Mah Jong from where? BT's dad
We're ghetto and like to drink and kick it with the bam. That's essentially Filipino garage.

I'm not sure, how well of a point I made, but I like knowing that I can just as easily kick it in the garage and talk to my dad about the same things I do with my friends.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 7

Haha.. famous for nothing, and a pornstar.. 2 blondes.. hmm..
Day 7:
I was honestly thinking about this one all day. Not the fantasy part, but thinking about this post. I wasn't sure how explicit I wanted to get. Should I tell you if I liked it. How the fantasy was. Then I thought about just talking about the whole debate in my head.

What was I supposed to learn from this? Am I supposed to get better at using my imagination? Am I supposed to be more comfortable with who I am sexually? Will I be embarrassed if I post this. To be honest, I think I'm deciding right here and right now, that I'm not going to be. So screw it, it was what it was. Nothing special. Haha. I'm ready for your next challenge BOOK!

Day 8:
Addiction Free Day. Cut out any addictive substances from your routine today.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 6

Day 6:
To be honest I am doing it as I write this. But this is definitely one I could do right now. It said to write the opening sentence, and I'm wondering what my novel will be about. I'm thinking that it'd definitely be something that I'm passionate about, because it would keep me on it. So give me a minute, because I am going to think this out............

"If I could say this, perception can do wonders."

I think that's where it'll start...

Day 7:
(This one is a gooder)
Masturbate to the following fantasy: (If you could only see the book)
For Men:
Two Blondes. Doing It. Together.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 5

Day 5:
It was a simple day, just had to post up an out of order sign on something. Not really too much of a lesson I felt. Just that sense of anarchy. But nonetheless, it had it's little rushes. I decided to just put it up somewhere random. Somewhere people would look at it and be like, "I didn't even know that this could be out of order." But alas, it was a busy day and I was not able to witness people's reactions. Hopefully new things for tomorrow.

Day 6:
Write the opening sentence for your debut novel.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 4

Day 4: World Coloring In Day
Today was basically a plan for the future type of deal. You take a map of all the countries in the world and mark where you have been, where you want to go and where you don't ever want to set foot. Fairly simple. Not much to learn except maybe that I don't ever want to set foot in this place or that place. But it was still nice thinking of the possibilities. Perhaps my next trip I'll get to put my passport to use.

Day 5:
Mass Social Experiment. Put an out of order sign on any item of public infrastructure. The point of this day is achieve comprehensive social breakdown across the U.S.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 3

Day 3: Throw Something Away You Like
I started the day off with a suggestion I got from my friend. I told her a story about this wallet that I've had since the 5th grade. I haven't used it since my Junior year in high school but I've kept it. It just had so many memories. I used to fill up the picture section with pictures of girls, or pictures of me and girls because it made me feel gangster. Uber pimp! Haha. But not only that. It was with me through some of the best and worst times in my life. Even better, no matter when or where I lost it, I always got it back. For example, I lost it in Hawaii, and got it mailed back to me. Then, I lost it on campus one day, with a 100 dollar bill in it. And got it back intact. Well, aside from my pimp ass pictures full of girls. Haha. And yes, they were girls I actually knew. I went through it and it actually made me sad that I threw it away.

But from then on I made a commitment, I would fill my trash can full of things I like.

I continued on with the day's task and tossed out all the skateboard pictures on my wall. Following up with things from my desk, and moving on to my shoe boxes full of random trinkets. It felt good. I went through all the times that I'd spent in my room looking at those pictures. I thought about all the people that have come through my room and seen them. And what they might say now that they're gone. I read through all the letters from ex-girlfriends and the random school projects I randomly decided to keep. I went through the gamut of emotions. Happy, sad, excited. It was good.

I still really don't know where this book is taking me. Or how I'm supposed to change. But I figure, everyone is different, yet it claims to change everyone's life. So maybe there's something that I'm supposed to get out of it, that is completely different from what someone else would get out of it. And I'm okay with that.

Some good quotes from things I threw away...

"That's good you can swim... cause you know, some people can't, and that's not so good."

"Not all the seventies was good though. Unfortunate events such as the Watergate Scandal the Vietnam War, and The Saturday Night Massacre."

"Always tell people how you feel about them... you never know if they feel the same"

"Still crushing on tha high school gurl and Allyson? Welz I'm still hella crushing on Carlito and I used to like Gabe, but not anymore!"

DAY 4:
World Coloring in day. Color in where you've been with one color. Then color in the countries you want to go with another. And lastly, color in ones that you would never go to with a different color. And plan for the future.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 2

Day 2:
I admit, I took notes on my phone. But only because I had to. But I definitely have some interesting stuff to say about today. I need to re-think my strategy, because unlike the first day, this was a day long thing. But I got some good things about it.

One big thing that came out of today, was that it got me up and out of the house. I knew that I needed to be out in the world so that I could actually look at people. I mean, after all I was supposed to look at everyone as if they could be the love of my life

It started off as if I was trying to see how this person could be the love of my life. For example, if I could adapt to their styles, to their quirks or just to who I thought they were. Essentially, I was looking at all the positives about each person. Which I did enjoy, because I began to look at everyone in a positive light, but then my mood switched.

It went from looking at the positives, to imagining the possibilities. For example, instead of looking for what I could connect with, I started to picture myself doing everyday tasks with this person (i.e. grocery shopping, waking up next to them, kissing them, etc.) And it was a good thought. It got me talking to people.

I learned a lot of things from the random people I talked to. Mostly, not to be scared of what they have to say, because most likely, they won't put you down, rather explain themselves. And it's always good to hear stories.

Lastly, my friend Cosella, got me thinking about the other possible loves of your life. I mean, your kids, your family or your friends. These are all people you love or could possibly love, and what is it about these people that make them the love of your life.

I learned a few things from this. Mostly, what I like to see or how I would like to see people interact. With potential. With the potential that they could be something amazing. No matter how content you are.

DAY 3:
Throw something you like away!

Bomb$hell Finds: Soles 4 Souls

Soles 4 Souls is a non profit organization started by Wayne Elsey to donate shoes to those in need. The organization started in late 2004, after the notorious series of tsunamis that destroyed Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and several countries near by. Elsey, with an experience in the footwear industry gathered up his peers and friends to start collecting shoes to send over to the victims. Soles 4 Souls rounded up over 250,000 pairs and sent them out with their own money. Unfortunatley, Hurricane Katrina hits and Elsey decides to gather up his team and start an organiztion that is here to stay. They got over three qaurters of a million pairs of shoes for the victims of Katrina and established Soles4Souls Inc. based in Alabama. Since then, the team has expanded from helping victims to those living in extreme poverty and also giving jobs to parolees. There are several ways that we can help; retailers and manufacturers can donate returned shoes or samples, individuals can donate new or lightly used shoes, or cash donations. Currently, Soles 4 Souls are donating a pair of shoes every 28 seconds, made possible through everyone's effort and donations. Visit soles4souls.org to check their daily updates and more information on how you can help. I will be sending out a pair of nike samples on behalf of Bomb$hell =) Here is the website again, soles4souls.org

Article summarized from Sole Collector.

He said, she said...

As the new year starts, we seem to strive for change. We effortlessly create resolutions to further better ourselves for the new year. Some may seem as simple as to not cursing or complicated as a complex diet and excersie plan. Some resolutions may be simple to conqure while others are close to impossible. Despite the range of variety, there are a few resolutions that everyone should take up. I reacently read the Dear Abby section of the SF Chronicle and came across these.

"I will be happy. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me."

"I will accept what is. I will face reality. I will correct those things I can correct and accept those I cannot."

"I will improve my mind. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. I will not be a mental loafer."

"I will gather courage to do what is right and take responsibility for my own actions."

The new year brings hope that we all can become a better person. Everyone should take up some kind of resolution and stick to it. Even though it is something small, it makes you a better person that much more. I hope everyone starts their new year right. And lets not use the line, "Hey, theres always next year." Happy new years people.

Thoughts: David Banner

I was on my work yesterday, and I didn't get to really listen to the whole interview, but David Banner was on, and he hit a number of interesting points.

He started off talking about the music he makes and what he wants to do. This part was interesting because he spoke about giving back to the community. But at the same time how the community is not supporting him. He basically said, don't get mad at people that sell out, because they have to eat. If you never go out there and buy an album these artists will never make money. I admit I download music. But I still go out there and buy it too. Nevertheless, some of these people go out there and do good things for the community. And by buying their albums, or whatever we are supporting our community or at least a community that needs it.

Next, he talked about being a decent person. He talked about people screwing over people that care for them. I've heard a lot of similar situations. And I would never intentionally screw someone I cared about over. He recalled a time, where he kept money in a jar for savings, but these people who begged him for help, kept stealing the money from him. I understand desperate people do desperate things. But he's already helping you out, he's already showing you he cares, and no you're trying to put him out in the cold. That's ruthless, because honestly, if someone is doing that for me, I would take more suffering if it meant that they were living better. That goes for all of you. Because I love you guys. Haha.

Last, he talked about making it big. About how you can't make it big in your home town. Because too many people already have an image of you. What you are and what you were like. So in some ways, it's harder for them to take you seriously. This one seemed logical, but at the same time, there are always exceptions.

If I can find the interview, I'll include a link.

Start the new year off right people. Be good to each other.

Happy New Years Suckas!

Starting off the New Year right.. I hope you all can say the same.

This Book Will Change Your Life: Day 1

Day 1: was actually just a warm up day. That's what it said to do and it offered a few little suggestions. There was, for example, learn to play chopsticks on the piano, hold the phone up to a different ear, set up your clocks to exactly the same time, name your genitalia or my personal favorite, go on a one-minute hunger strike.

I decided to get a lot of warm up in so I did a number of them. So far I've yet to feel the change, but I kind of see where this might be heading. I think this book is essentially, your gateway to adulthood. It makes you do all these things that you wouldn't ever think of doing, so that by the time the year is over, you've been there, and you've done that. But this is day 1 and we'll see where this one is headed.

DAY 2's TASK: Gaze at everyone wondering whether they might be the one true love of your life, the one destined for you and you alone, and whether you might be passing them by forever... act in consequence.
