Kenzo Digital - City of God's Son

This seems pretty nuts. Check it out at cityofgodson.com. I wonder how they put it all together, cause mos def, these artists didn't take time out of their busy schedules to get this done. Nas, Jay-Z, Ghostface, Samuel L., Delroy Lindo and more? I'm still waiting for my copy to download from the site, so go get yours.

Jay-Z - Brooklyn Go Hard ft. Santi White

Evan Roth of Graffiti Research Lab put this video together for Red & The Global Fund.

Last week I was contacted to make a video for a new Kanye West produced Jay-Z song for RED & the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. It launched today (World AIDS Day) at red.msn.com. And while I’m happy to be able to help the cause I’m also more than a little bit excited about getting a chance to make something for the likes of Jay-Z and Kanye. I’ve been turning down client requests to use Typographic Illustration for 5 years in hopes that one day the phone would ring and it would be Hova. The video can be seen on (RED) WIRE, or at this direct link on MSN video (I will update with an embed-able video shortly). I’m pretty sure that this is the first rap video to end with a download source code link.

Jim Jones - Not on My Level

I know I was just talkin about beef earlier, but let me set some guidelines. Pac and Biggie, they were both on the same level. Lyricists to the highest degree. That's why that beef pulled weight. Now on the other hand, there are people that just say some dumb ass shit. Here it goes:
Take that Boston hat off homie, you're not a champion. I was reading an article, where they were talking to Jim Jones about T.I.'s Swagga Like Us track. Essentially what he went on about in the article was that
  1. He doesn't see anyone in the hood, saying, "I want to be like T.I, Kanye or Jay-Z" but I guess he's heard people from the hood say they want to be like him.
  2. That Nas, has not and never will be on his level.

It may seem like I took it out of context, but go look the original interview up. In a nutshell, that's what he said. So let me discuss these situations.

  1. In the song, no one ever said that they were looked up to. They only said, that no one else had "swagga" like them. And if you look it up in the dictionary, it's not going to be there. But the way that I understand it is this. "Swagga" has nothing to do with people from the hood wanting to be with you. It has to do with the way you walk, the way you talk and the confidence in your stride. So homie, I don't need people to look up to me to have "swagga" It's something you just have.
  2. Nas is not on your level? Yeah homie, he'll never be on your level because he won't ever come out with tracks like Ballin. So maybe he hasn't sold out, but that's why he's saying that hip-hop is dead, because if rappers like you. Ballin? homie please, you act like your the shit, when you're trying to come out frontin Jay-Z. Check this out, you don't make half the money Jay-Z does, and you don't come out with half the substance Nas does. So when you get to either of those levels go ahead and start calling people out.

Stay in your league homie, you should be wearin a Kansas City Royals hat son.

Argument Hour - Fat Joe Diss

H to the OV, Jay-Z came out with a diss track aimed at Fat Joe. Here is a follow up remix of the track

let me just put it like this. Back when there was the East Coast/West Coast beef, there was some real ass hip hop coming out. Tupac had lyrics, and Biggie had some freestyle. But both of them, let me reiterate that, BOTH OF THEM, were geniuses in their own right. Part of that, was that they thrived off the competition. Biggie would call out Pac, Pac would call out Biggie, and I'm not one to really make assumptions but, I am sure as hell underneath all the hyped up drama, they were cool. Let me just put it like this, the drama was good for hip hop, but how far it went, was not good. Call people out, challenge them and see if they succeed. Survival of the fittest kids. Jay-Z may be one of the biggest sell outs in the biz, but you can't hate a fool for getting his, and on top of that, homie is more that just an MC, he's, "a BUSINESS man" For someone to do so much and still come up with lyrics that are relevant, ups for that. And for hating on Fat Joe, also. As Jay-Z put it, "Let's get back to making real music" and Fat Joe, that last song you came out with had absolutely NO SUBSTANCE! YADDIDAMEAN!

Jay Z moves the crowd @ Glastonbury

You might be wondering why Hov comes out with a guitar whilst singing Oasis' "Wonderwall". After Jay Z got booked for the show, the lead singer of Oasis, Noel Gallagher came out and said Glastonbury is a "guitar festival" and shouldn't feature hip-hop artists. Let's just say Noel got owned. Watch the full set here.

So I decided to just post something, because there hasn't been any feedback, and I figure , we need to see what you people think. What do you want to hear about? What's important to you? Because I guess there are some things that you aren't ready to hear about. So listen to this freestyle on the last episode of Yo! MTV Raps. Let us know what you want to hear. And..

check out this CD. Beyond Reasonable Doubt. Put out by Dame Dash, and some other old school Roc members, busting shit out over some Jay-Z beats
