DJ Qbert @ The Independent SF 12/26/08
Qbert has become a sort of ambassador for the turntable. He has gained great respect both for his spectacular skills (including numerous scratch inventions) and for his work to help the turntable community. Along with Mix Master Mike, he was inducted into the DMC DJ Hall of Fame in 1998 and continues to create and perform at a high level.
Should be a good time..

New Zoom Kobe IV Web Spot
Earlier this month, Nike and 10-time All-Star Kobe Bryant unveiled the Nike Zoom Kobe IV — its lightest basketball sneaker ever, with a new low cut design weighing in at a mere 11.6 ounces.
Today, they roll out a new web vid featuring Kobe, the new kicks, comedian Mike Epps and DJ AM.

Gangsta Red - Homeless Beat Box..
Homie's name is Gangsta Red. And like he says at the end of the video, he's homeless. Crazy how sometimes talent can fall through the cracks. Get his name out there, spread the word, let's see if we can't get homie off the streets and onto some tracks.

The Big Picture: The Year 2008 in Photographs
The Boston Globe just released a 3-part feature of photos from 2008. These photos amazingly cover the whole spectrum of human existence. Many of the most memorable acts from politics, war, and pop-culture were captured in the best of 2008 photos. Some photos are extremely graphic, so enjoy them with a cautious eye. Part 1 and part 2 have been released witha part 3 on the way.

Pin-up Queen Betty Paige dies at 85
Bettie Page, the brunet pinup queen with a shoulder-length pageboy hairdo and kitschy bangs whose saucy photos helped usher in the sexual revolution of the 1960s, has died. She was 85. R.I.P. Betty

Step your game up...
No matter how fresh one thinks they are, we could all use a little help...trust me. On that note, Esquire has just released a book to save us all. Esquire's The Handbook of Style (A man's guide to looking good) has tips about grooming to simply what tie goes with what pattern, etc. The book references classic styles of Frank Sinatra to the out of the box thinkings of Andre 3000. Cop this book at your local bookstore, and freshen up the steez.

Kanye West vs. Stephen Colbert
Kanye man, you can beat 50, but you can't beat Colbert. Honestly when it comes down to it, your fan base is a little bit smaller. And really you can't beat the Colbert bump in the charts. I don't know if you're experimenting with this new album, but heads up homie, I'm not feelin it.

This Diary Will Change Your Life 2009
So you remember earlier in the year when I was going through this book day by day, trying to see if it changed my life. It did for a while. To be honest. And really, I stopped doing it. But by the looks of things, Benrik is actually coming out with a 2009 book. Guess I know what's on my Christmas list.

FIFTY24SF Gallery
Two of my favorite artists are being exhibited at the Fifty24SF gallery in San Francisco. Jeremy Fish will be exhibiting his "Ghosts of the Barbary Coast" show which reflects his personal connection to his hometown city of SF and Miss Van from France will be exhibiting her " Still a Little Magic" show. I recommend everyone to check out these two shows, because I have a feeling that they'll be up in the "art" world someday. The exhibitions starts today (12/4/08) with 'Ghosts of Barbary Coast' on the upper level and 'Still a Little Magic' on the lower level. The show will run from Dec. 4th- 30th and I will definitely check it out in the coming weeks after some hectic-ness cools off. For more information check FIFTY24SF. Hollar.

Jay-Z - Brooklyn Go Hard ft. Santi White
Evan Roth of Graffiti Research Lab put this video together for Red & The Global Fund.
Last week I was contacted to make a video for a new Kanye West produced Jay-Z song for RED & the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. It launched today (World AIDS Day) at red.msn.com. And while I’m happy to be able to help the cause I’m also more than a little bit excited about getting a chance to make something for the likes of Jay-Z and Kanye. I’ve been turning down client requests to use Typographic Illustration for 5 years in hopes that one day the phone would ring and it would be Hova. The video can be seen on (RED) WIRE, or at this direct link on MSN video (I will update with an embed-able video shortly). I’m pretty sure that this is the first rap video to end with a download source code link.
